Taking part in sports activities is an excellent way to maintain good health. To take off weight, an exercise must work the large muscle groups, get the heart pumping at 70-85% of its maximum capacity (training zone), and be performed for at least 20 minutes. It is important to do something that you enjoy so that you'll keep at it even after you have lost the weight. Don't exhaust yourself in any of the activities, but keep a steady pace.
Activities like bowling, softball, tennis and weight training - which don't keep your heart rate consistently high can be part of a total fitness plan in moulding your fitness goals.
