With basketball, it is essential to warm up correctly. This is due to the fast pace of the game and the inordinate amount of jumping and twisting involved.

Looking at basketball on a fitness level, it certainly requires a good cardiovascular athelete. The game is very good for conditioning the heart and with the same token for reducing weight through fat loss. It also requries a large amount of endurance as both the cardiovascular and muscle systems of the body are under long spells of stress.
