Canoeing and Rowing
Canoeing is a logically good way of becoming or staying fit. But canoeing is inconvinient, the weather can be a factor and specialized equipment and environment are required. You must also have the skill to guide a canoe safely and ideally be a good swimmer since canoes can be unstable depending on the type of waterway being utilized. But within these limitations, canoeing can be an excellent fitness sport. It greatly benefits the heart, requires endurance and develops muscles in the canoer's arms and chest.Similarly, rowing and sculling are also vigorous sports that can really get your cardio respitory system going. The faster you row, the more you will exercise your muscles, including the all important heart. This sport builds the arms, shoulders, and back, both in terms of muscle size and endurance. With all these positive things going for it, rowing just like canoeing is dependent on the weather, the right waterway and specialized rowing equipment. For most people, a rowing machine provides just about all the positive aspects while taking care of the limitations. They can be used all year around indoors as a stand alone fitness mechanism or as a training tool for rowers.
