Swimming

Most people agree that swimming is one of the best all-round sports. No matter what your age or ails you; a bad back, bad knees, or other joint problems; swimming is still an exercise be conducted. It is also easy to measure your progress in terms of skill, strength and endurance.

Swimming does a great job in working out your heart, it helps in general slimming, with the strengthening of muscles in the chest and shoulders, and in the build up of endurance. The main problem with swimming is having access to the facilities, that is a pool for use. Not to mention, not everyone knows how to swim. Confidence in the water is extremely crucial for proper exercise and skill development.

Swimming Exercises

Apart from working on technique, exercises can be performed to improve the performance of a swimmer. Lower body weight training exercises including squats, hamstring curls, calf raises, and ab exerices can be very helpful. Swimming also involves many muscles in the upper body, which can be enhanced by working on chest and shoulder muscles through bench and military presses and seperate bicep and tricep exercises.
