Fitness and Nutrition
The health and fitness industry is by far one of the most lucrative businesses in the world today. We live in a society that places a great deal of importance on a person's physical appearence, a trait grossly unfair but one that continues to occupy the hearts and minds of millions of people. Fitness is more than about physical looks - it is also about health. But people have become so enamored with the quest for leanness that they are willing to do just about anything to achieve this view. And of course, there are more than a few people of low moral character who are willing to take advantage of these people. The health and fitness industry is chalk full of snake oil sellers seeking to profit from human wants, their faulty advice, and dangerous products. All this for quick, pain free results, promised without any work. Dreams are promised to the gullible, but nothing is ever delivered.
The problem with this situation is not the lack of intelligence of the individual, it is usually the lack of basic knowledge and the power of taking advtantage of the human psyche. Instead of adopting a strategy of throwing hard earned money at the problem with these various quick fix schemes, the better course of action is to invest ones energies towards the pursuit of knowledge. Armed with the basic uderstanding of fitness and nutritional principles, it becomes clear that it is possible to make great strides in improving your body's physical condition.
Essential amongst this knowledge is learning more about the human body, learning about the food we consume - the fuel essential for us to survive, and activities than can allow us to maintain level of high physical activity. One must stop making excuses, and start doing something. Also key in a person's fitness goals is the fact that one does not have to be limited by a certain type of exercises to achieve positive results. Weight (strength) training, aerobic (cardiovascular) activities, sports and recreation activities, and many day to day jobs can all help a person achieve their fitness goals. Forming a complement to these options is the use of proper nutrition along with supplements and technology to help attain the fitness goals, prevent injuries, and lead a healthy life.
Exercise effects the body, mind, and soul. It starts within the body, you feel better; then to the outside, you will start to look better; and finally the mind, when you are able to think better.
